The Nest Chair was designed and made for the HOMEMAKERS Expo in 2011, by invitation to exhibit in the ‘Future of Design’ section, with the theme of Upcycling. Every material on this chair is either reclaimed or an alien species, the Port Jackson wicker is cleared from the flats outside Cape Town, while the coffee sacks are discarded after transit from Brazil. The forms were inspired by mid-century arm chairs, with low, wide arms that make you want to curl up with a good book.
Made from Stone Pine, woven Port Jackson, reclaimed reinforcing steel, hessian coffee sacks, with steel bolts and brackets.
Dimensions: 800 x 600 x 800mm
